Accessibility statement

The website should be usable by everyone.

Last updated 13 October 2026

Søya Gard wants everyone to be able to use soeya.no, regardless of ability, browser or device. The website is designed with the aim of following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines, WCAG 2.1 level AA. The Norwegian requirements for universal design of websites are set out in the Equality and Anti-Discrimination Act and the regulations on universal design of ICT.

We tested the website on 13 October 2026 with the automated testing tool Lighthouse and checked that all links and buttons can be reached with a keyboard and have names.

What we have done

  • The website is designed to be used with a keyboard, and there is a link at the very top to skip straight to the content. Images in the galleries can be opened in a large view with Enter.
  • In the booking calendar, screen readers read out the full date and whether the day is available or booked, and all fields in the booking form have names.
  • Headings, menus and landmarks are marked up so that screen readers can navigate the page.
  • Images on the regular pages have text alternatives that describe them.
  • Text has good contrast against the background (tested with Lighthouse).
  • The website adapts to mobile, tablet and desktop.
  • The menu shows which page you are on, and whether a link goes to a section further down the same page.

What we know does not work well enough

  • The map on the front page comes from OpenStreetMap and may be difficult to use with a keyboard and screen reader. The address is also given as text: Søyland 37, 4334 Ålgård.
  • The video under “Activities” has no subtitles or audio description.
  • Images in news and events use the title of the article as their text alternative, not a description of what the image shows.
  • News and events are only available in Norwegian (Nynorsk). All other pages are also available in English – use the language button at the top of the page.
